Winter pool closure

The end of the bathing season marks an important step in the conduct of a swimming pool.
The closure, often carried out badly and rashly by those who do not understand the function, is the most important moment to prevent the proliferation of bacterial charges in the water and in particular in the layers of the filtering masses and to preserve the structure. Bacteria have a simple but resistant metabolism and easily adapt to live in stable environments, so it is precisely in the period of proliferation that stops and, when the pool is opened, there is the problem of a high bacterial load. It is also necessary to keep the reservoir full of water during the winter period to preserve the structure and the coating from probable micro-cracks caused by temperature changes. Typically, these and other drawbacks are noted at the time of subsequent re-opening, with high bacterial pollution or localized leakage and harmful infiltrations, making the commissioning of the plant quite difficult.
That said, the procedures to make a good closure are quite similar but each case needs an appropriate assessment that allows total control.
First of all, it is necessary to cover the pool with a suitable UV-resistant covering of the sun to stop the reproduction of algae and organisms dependent on chlorophyll photosynthesis, this coverage varies depending on the type of plant (eg overflow, skimmer), the type of perimeter flooring, of any handrails and the anchoring system must also be studied to avoid unwanted movements due to wind or rain and often drainage systems are required to prevent dips and stagnations.
There are many factors and it is essential that each pool has adequate coverage for the situation.
From a chemical point of view, the specific knowledge of the implants and the treatments to be pursued becomes the fundamental element for the choice of the products and the correct prophylaxis.
From this point of view, relying on professionals and specialized companies means facing the issue with knowledge and experience without leaving anything to improvisation, ensuring the quality of the water in the pool and preserving the functionality of the plant and the structure is equivalent to an economic saving and to minimize maintenance times
